Definition:

The original definition of FIT is Foreign Independent Tour. It now is more commonly used as an acronym for Flexible Independent Travel. It describes a type of travel or tourism that does not incorporate a packaged tour but is nonetheless customized by a travel-selling professional.

Some travel suppliers, such as river cruise lines, use FIT to refer to individual bookings as opposed to groups.
