The gleaming new Disney Dream was christened on January 19th, by godmother, Jennifer Hudson, with 3,000 spectators watching. With a swish of her magic wand, a helicopter then heaved a 16 foot bottle of dreams toward the new ship in spectacular Disney style. Travel agents now have another ship to help fulfill Disney customers’ dreams.

The Dream is the third ship representing Disney Cruise Line. It is 40% larger than the other two Disney ships, the Wonder and the Magic. The ship has 14 decks designed in early 20th century style, with 1250 staterooms equipped with 5007 beds. The staterooms are thoughtfully designed with families in mind, such as the helpful split bathrooms.

The theme aboard the ship is playful fun, along with elegance and sophistication, including a bronze statue of Admiral Donald. There are three pools, one for kids, one for families and one just for adults. There are nightclubs and lounges for adults in the area called “The District.” Disney has also included family dining and adults only dining.

The three, four, and five night itineraries begin in February, 2011 with stops at the Bahamas, and the Disney private island, Castaway Cay. Bookings can be made through mid 2012. Pre and post cruise nights can also be booked, combining a Disney land vacation as well, including tickets to Disney parks.

Features aboard the Disney Dream:

  • It’s a Small World Nursery, for children three months to three years old.
  • Disney’s Oceaneer Club, includes character dress up, computer games, and themed activities.
  • Edge is a gathering place for 11 to 17 year olds, to enjoy music, games, and activities.
  • Vibe also is a gathering place for teenagers ages 14-17 years.
  • D Lounge provides a lounge for families to sing, dance and play games.
  • Arr-Cade features the newest video games for all.
  • Senses, Spa & Salon, provides the latest in spa experiences.
  • Fitness Center.
  • Goofy’s Sports Deck, with a miniature golf course, basketball and volleyball courts.
  • Buena Vista Theatre is the onboard cinema.
  • Walt Disney Theatre, for live performances.
  • Character Greetings, to meet favorite Disney characters.
  • Cabanas, for indoor casual dining.
  • Enchanted Garden, for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
  • Palo, an upscale adults only restaurant, featuring Northern Italian cuisine.
  • Remy, also adults only, for romantic upscale dining.
  • Royal Palace, for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with a classic Disney movie atmosphere.

With the addition of the Disney Dream, Disney lovers will now have more opportunities to sail without the worry of their favorite dates sold out. The Disney Fantasy is also scheduled to start service in February, 2012, so there will be even more Disney possibilities to choose from.
